After 15 years of living in Dubai, with much being in the public eye I thought I knew everyone, or at least they knew me.

In that time, I’ve worked onstage with James Brown and Bruce Willis, presented the Rugby World Cup Sevens to 200 million viewers worldwide and had a sold out theatre at my stage hypnosis shows many times.

I should have been able to network effectively and whenever I wanted to.

But I couldn’t.

Why not? Because I didn’t have a ‘relationship’ with my contacts list.

When I checked the names and numbers, I realized that I couldn’t easily track who is still in town, who has left their jobs and who actually WANTS to actively network with me.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not always after money from my contacts, some are there for socializing and keeping me smiling, others share a ‘heads up’ about the markets and news about town, but I still didn’t know who was who.

Thanks to the Referral Institute, I feel like I can make my friendships work for me.

My new business venture is online. I have written several booksto be published online.

I have started contacting every email I have to offer them a free copy of one of the business eBooks

I will send this to them all 3 times and then gently remove them from my database.

It wasn’t working for me. Instead I will have a much smaller group of active friends who will know what I am doing, will want to be in contact and can join me in a much more satisfying relationship.

According to theCertified Networker Programme, I should be looking for between 4 and 8 referral partners to give each other business for life.

Now I know how to find them.

If you’d like to use my system to sort through your database and incentivize your friends to rekindle your relationship, let me know.

If I give you business, I know that you’ll give it back too.
